MERANGIN – Tim Evaluator UNESCO Global Geopark melakukan revalidasi ke situs bersejarah Goa Tiangko di Desa Tiangko, Kecamatan Sungai Manau, Kabupaten Merangin, Selasa (11/8).
Kunjungan ini merupakan bagian dari rangkaian proses evaluasi penetapan kawasan Geopark Merangin Jambi dalam jejaring internasional.
Dua evaluator dunia yang hadir dalam peninjauan tersebut adalah Prof. Dr. Yongmun Jeon dari Jeju Island UNESCO Global Geopark (Korea Selatan) dan Mr. Nicolas Klee dari Monts D'ardèche UNESCO Global Geopark (Prancis).
Dalam peninjauan tersebut, rombongan didampingi oleh Kepala Balai Pelestarian (BP) Kebudayaan, Yanto Manurung; Kepala BKSDA Wilayah I Jambi, Ikawa; serta Kepala Dinas Pariwisata dan Kebudayaan Provinsi Jambi yang diwakili oleh Kabid Destinasi dan Industri Pariwisata, Novita Erlinda,GM Geopark Merangin, Agus Zainudin, Kadis Pariwisata, Pemuda dan Olahraga Kabupaten Merangin, Suherman serta pengamanan dari jajaran polres Merangin dan Dishub Merangin.
Selama menyusuri kawasan situs, Yongmun Jeon dan Nicolas Klee tampak antusias sekaligus terkesan dengan keanekaragaman geologi serta keunikan lansekap Goa Tiangko.
Selain formasi gua, kawasan ini menyuguhkan pemandangan tebing batu karst unik yang berpadu langsung dengan hamparan ladang dan saluran irigasi sawah warga setempat.
Meski mengagumi potensi alam yang ada, kedua evaluator memberikan sejumlah masukan konstruktif terkait tata kelola dan pengembangan kapasitas edukasi geosite. Masukan serta pertanyaan teknis dari tim evaluator langsung direspons dan dijelaskan secara rinci oleh pihak BP Kebudayaan Jambi.
Yongmun Jeon menekankan pentingnya peran geosite sebagai ruang pembelajaran publik yang inklusif.
"Geopark tidak hanya penting untuk geologi dan penelitian, tetapi juga penting untuk para pelajar, mahasiswa, dan masyarakat umum. Sebaiknya ada papan informasi yang menceritakan bagaimana sejarah goa, proses terciptanya stalaktit dan stalakmit, serta informasi penting lainnya," ujar Yongmun Jeon di lokasi.
Kawasan Tiangko sendiri merupakan salah satu geosite penting dalam struktur jejaring Taman Bumi Nasional Geopark Merangin Jambi.
