BANGKO – Bupati Merangin, M. Syukur, secara resmi melepas keberangkatan kontingen marching band Gita Widyatama SMPN 1 Merangin dan tim basket Merangin Junior di Aula Rumah Dinas Bupati, Rabu (29/7).
Kedua kontingen tersebut dilepas untuk bertanding membawa nama daerah di ajang tingkat provinsi dan regional.
Tim marching band SMPN 1 Merangin dijadwalkan mengikuti Lomba Sigma Bupati Cup di Muaro Bungo.
Sementara itu, tim basket Merangin Junior akan bersaing pada kejuaraan Kapolda Cup di Kota Jambi yang berlangsung pada 1–4 Agustus mendatang.
Dalam sambutannya, Bupati M. Syukur memberikan apresiasi tinggi atas semangat para atlet muda dan pelajar Merangin. Ia membakar semangat para peserta dengan menjanjikan hadiah khusus jika berhasil meraih predikat juara pertama.
"Kemarin tim basket kita bisa meraih juara dua tingkat Sumatra di Padang. Masa di tingkat provinsi (Jambi) tidak bisa nomor satu? Logikanya begitu. Kalau juara satu, balik lagi ke sini, ada hadiah dari Pak Bupati," ujarnya.
Kendati mematok target tinggi, Syukur berpesan agar para peserta tidak berkecil hati jika hasil yang didapat belum maksimal. Ia menekankan bahwa keberanian untuk tampil dan mengisi waktu dengan kegiatan positif jauh lebih berharga.
"Soal menang dan kalah itu urusan lain. Pertandingan itu pasti ada kalah dan menang, yang penting sportif dan semangat. Yang utama anak-anak sudah melakukan kegiatan positif, daripada terus-terusan main game hingga malam," tuturnya.
Selain itu, Bupati juga mengingatkan seluruh kontingen untuk senantiasa menjaga nama baik Kabupaten Merangin selama berada di luar daerah.
Ia meminta para atlet dan pelajar menunjukkan sikap yang ramah, santun, serta menjunjung tinggi nilai-nilai keagamaan.
Pada kesempatan yang sama, Bupati turut menyentuh isu sosial dan mengimbau pihak sekolah serta orang tua untuk membentengi anak-anak dari ancaman narkoba dan pengaruh negatif media sosial.
Sebagai bentuk perhatian langsung, Bupati M. Syukur juga memberikan bantuan uang saku untuk konsumsi perjalanan bagi kedua kontingen.
Sementara itu, Ketua Perbasi Merangin yang juga Staf Ahli III Setda Merangin, Hendri Widodo, melaporkan bahwa kontingen basket menerjunkan sekitar 36 atlet (putra dan putri) serta 6 orang official.
Menariknya, kontingen ini juga memboyong atlet usia dini (umur 10 tahun). Rombongan basket dijadwalkan bertolak ke Jambi pada Kamis (30/7).
Adapun dari cabang marching band, Kepala Dinas Pendidikan dan Kebudayaan Merangin, Misrinadi, menyampaikan bahwa kontingen SMPN 1 Merangin diperkuat oleh 37 personel, 3 orang pelatih, serta didampingi Kepala Sekolah Ismalinda dan para guru.
Jika berhasil mengamankan gelar juara di Bungo, tim marching band direncanakan bakal melanjutkan kiprahnya ke ajang selanjutnya di Yogyakarta.
Acara pelepasan tersebut turut dihadiri oleh para kepala sekolah, jajaran pelatih, serta para orang tua siswa yang hadir memberikan dukungan moral secara langsung kepada putra-putri mereka.
