TANJAB BARAT – Kebebasan pers kembali diuji di Bumi Serengkuh Dayung. Aliansi Wartawan Siber Indonesia (AWASI) Kabupaten Tanjung Jabung Barat mengecam keras dugaan pengeroyokan terhadap seorang jurnalis bernama Eka saat sedang menjalankan tugas konfirmasi di Desa Teluk Ketapang, Kecamatan Pengabuan. Peristiwa yang terjadi pada Rabu (26/08/2026) ini dinilai bukan sekadar tindak pidana biasa, melainkan serangan langsung terhadap hak publik untuk mengetahui kebenaran.
Ketua AWASI Tanjab Barat, Mappaudin, dalam keterangan resminya menegaskan bahwa kekerasan terhadap wartawan adalah pelanggaran konstitusional. "Kekerasan terhadap jurnalis sama dengan upaya membungkam kebebasan informasi dan merampas hak rakyat untuk mengetahui kebenaran. Kami tidak akan membiarkan ini berlalu begitu saja," tegasnya dengan nada tinggi.
Konfirmasi Jalan Retak Berujung Kekerasan
Insiden bermula ketika jurnalis Eka mendatangi Kepala Desa Teluk Ketapang, Fadli, di area lapangan sepak bola desa setempat. Eka hendak meminta klarifikasi terkait kondisi jalan aspal di RT 02 yang dilaporkan mengalami keretakan parah meski baru selesai dikerjakan sekitar lima bulan lalu. Tindakan ini merupakan prosedur standar jurnalisme untuk memenuhi prinsip keberimbangan (cover both sides) sebelum sebuah berita dipublikasikan.
Namun, alih-alih memberikan penjelasan, situasi justru memanas. Seorang saksi mata, Rahim, membenarkan adanya keributan tersebut. “Tiba-tiba salah seorang Ketua RT 04, Sekretaris Desa, serta beberapa masyarakat langsung melakukan pengeroyokan terhadap wartawan tersebut,” ujar Rahim.
Korban kemudian dilarikan ke Puskesmas Teluk Nilau untuk mendapatkan visum et repertum dan segera melaporkan kejadian tersebut ke Polsek Pengabuan. Hingga kini, identitas pelaku yang diduga terlibat—termasuk sejumlah perangkat desa dan warga—masih dalam tahap penyelidikan intensif oleh kepolisian.
Landasan Hukum Kuat: UU Pers Melindungi Wartawan
AWASI mengingatkan bahwa tindakan tersebut melanggar sejumlah aturan hukum yang jelas:
1. UU No. 40 Tahun 1999 tentang Pers Pasal 8: Wartawan mendapat perlindungan hukum dalam melaksanakan profesinya.
2. Pasal 18 ayat (1) UU Pers: Menghalangi tugas jurnalistik dapat dikenakan sanksi pidana.
3. KUHP Pasal 351: Ancaman hukuman bagi tindak penganiayaan dan pengeroyokan.
4. UUD 1945 Pasal 28E ayat (3): Jaminan hak asasi manusia untuk mengeluarkan pendapat.
Tuntutan AWASI: Usut Tuntas, Jangan Ada yang Dilindungi!
Menyikapi kasus ini, AWASI mengajukan lima tuntutan tegas kepada Kepolisian Resor Tanjung Jabung Barat:
* Segera menetapkan status perkara dan memproses hukum semua pelaku tanpa pandang bulu.
* Penyelidikan harus berjalan transparan; tidak ada pihak yang "dilindungi" karena jabatan atau kedekatan sosial.
* Memberikan perlindungan hukum dan keamanan penuh bagi korban Eka dan keluarganya.
* Keterbukaan informasi proses hukum kepada publik agar masyarakat dapat memantau jalannya keadilan.
* Jika ditemukan indikasi penghambatan atau penutupan kasus, AWASI siap membawa isu ini ke tingkat nasional.
"Kami percaya pada supremasi hukum. Kasus ini harus menjadi pelajaran bahwa menghalangi jurnalis sama dengan menghalangi demokrasi," tambah Mappaudin.
Masyarakat Tanjung Jabung Barat kini menunggu langkah nyata aparat. Apakah negara mampu melindungi para pencari fakta, ataukah intimidasi masih merajalela di tingkat desa? AWASI berjanji akan terus mengawal kasus ini hingga tuntas, memastikan bahwa suara kebenaran tidak pernah dibungkam oleh tangan-tangan yang ingin menyembunyikan aib.
