BANGKO – Sektor pertanian di Kabupaten Merangin menunjukkan tren positif yang signifikan.
Bupati Merangin, M. Syukur, mengungkapkan bahwa luas tanam sawah di wilayahnya mengalami kenaikan sebesar 11 persen pada periode 2025 dibandingkan tahun sebelumnya.
Hal tersebut disampaikan Bupati saat mendampingi Gubernur Jambi, Al Haris, dalam kunjungan kerja di Desa Seling, Kecamatan Tabir, Jumat (6/2).
Di hadapan Gubernur, M. Syukur menegaskan komitmen pemerintah daerah untuk terus memperkuat ketahanan pangan dan kesejahteraan petani melalui intervensi sarana produksi dan infrastruktur.
Berdasarkan data yang dipaparkan, pada periode Januari–Desember 2024, luas tanam di Merangin tercatat sebesar 10.539 hektare. Angka ini melonjak menjadi 11.692 hektare pada periode yang sama di tahun 2025.
"Terjadi peningkatan sebesar 1.153 hektare atau sekitar 11 persen. Hal ini mencerminkan komitmen dan kerja keras bersama antara pemerintah daerah, sektor pertanian, dan para petani dalam mendukung ketahanan pangan," ujar M. Syukur.
Untuk menjaga konsistensi produksi, Pemkab Merangin memfokuskan dukungan pada tiga pilar utama.
Pertama yaitu mendukung pembangunan infrastruktur pengairan melalui pengaturan irigasi terpompa dan rehabilitasi irigasi sekunder untuk memastikan ketersediaan air.
Kedua yaitu meningkatkan bantuan produksi melakukan penyaluran benih unggul untuk padi sawah, padi ladang, hingga jagung.
Ketiga dengan meningkatkan mekanisasi pertanian melalui pemberian bantuan alat mesin pertanian (alsintan) serta program optimalisasi lahan.
Selain itu, Pemkab Merangin tengah mendorong program Intensifikasi Beras Merangin untuk meningkatkan nilai tambah dan daya saing produk lokal agar berdampak langsung pada ekonomi masyarakat.
Uniknya, tanggung jawab ketahanan pangan di Merangin tidak hanya bertumpu pada kelompok tani.
Dinas Pertanian juga mengelola langsung Balai Benih Utama (BBU) untuk optimalisasi lahan. Saat ini, terdapat 40 hektare lahan jagung yang tersebar di empat lokasi strategis, yakni BBU Margoyoso (27 ha), BBU Dusun Tuo (8 ha), BBU Jangkat (4 ha), dan BBU Sungai Manau (1 ha).
Terkait distribusi, Bupati Syukur menekankan pentingnya akses jalan di kawasan pertanian. Meski menghadapi keterbatasan anggaran, perbaikan jalan tetap menjadi prioritas.
"Walaupun sedikit, bantuan infrastruktur jalan tetap ada. Sebab, meski sawahnya bagus, jika jalannya kurang mendukung, itu akan menjadi penghambat. Kami ingin melihat sawah-sawah di Merangin menguning sebagai simbol kemakmuran," pungkasnya sembari berharap capaian ini dapat menjadi percontohan bagi desa-desa lain dalam menerapkan budidaya padi sawah yang modern, efisien, dan berkelanjutan.
