BANGKO – Wakil Bupati Merangin, A. Khafidh, secara resmi melepas keberangkatan kontingen tim sepak bola Kabupaten Merangin untuk berlaga di ajang bergengsi Gubernur Jambi Cup 2026.
Acara pelepasan yang berlangsung khidmat tersebut digelar di halaman Kantor Dinas Kominfo Merangin pada Sabtu (10/1) pagi.
Sebanyak 23 pemain pilihan hasil seleksi ketat siap diberangkatkan menuju Kota Jambi. Selain pemain, kontingen juga diperkuat oleh tim official, medis, dan fisioterapis dengan total rombongan mencapai 35 orang.
Dalam sambutannya, Wakil Bupati A. Khafidh menyampaikan salam hangat dari Bupati Merangin yang sedang berada di Jakarta. Ia menuturkan, ajang Gubernur Cup bukan sekadar turnamen biasa, melainkan pertaruhan nama baik daerah.
"Olahraga ini selain prestasi juga prestise. Jika kita berjuang dan ditakdirkan juara, nama Merangin akan harum hingga ke luar provinsi. Pemerintah Kabupaten Merangin tetap berkomitmen mendukung karena kalian adalah aset daerah," ujar Wabup di hadapan para pemain.
Wabup juga direncanakan akan hadir langsung di stadion pada hari Senin mendatang untuk menyaksikan laga perdana yang dinilai sebagai "final dini".
Merangin tergabung dalam Grup A bersama Tebo, Kerinci, dan Muaro Jambi. Mengingat regulasi ketat panitia yang melarang penggunaan pemain dari luar Provinsi Jambi, tim Merangin optimis mampu bersaing dengan mengandalkan talenta lokal.
Kepala Dinas Parpora Merangin sekaligus Wakil Manajer Tim, Suherman, menjelaskan bahwa persiapan tim sudah sangat matang.
"Anak-anak sudah melewati tahap seleksi dan Training Center (TC) intensif selama satu bulan. Kami siap berlaga mulai 12 Januari nanti," jelasnya.
Sementara itu, pembina tim sekaligus anggota Badan Anggaran DPRD Merangin, Taufik, menegaskan bahwa Merangin merupakan barometer sepak bola di Provinsi Jambi. 
Berkaca pada prestasi tahun-tahun sebelumnya yang kerap menembus babak final, ia meminta dukungan penuh dari seluruh OPD dan masyarakat.
"Hari Senin kita akan melawan Tebo. Ini adalah ulangan final tahun lalu, bisa dibilang final dini. Kami juga terus berkomunikasi dengan Pemerintah Daerah terkait kesejahteraan pemain, mulai dari akomodasi hingga uang saku, agar mereka fokus bertarung di lapangan," kata Taufik.
