BANGKO – Guna mencegah perkawinan anak usia dini, Pemerintah Kabupaten (Pemkab) Merangin menggelar Konsultasi Publik Strategi Daerah (Strada) Pencegahan Perkawinan Anak dan Perkawinan Usia di bawah 19 Tahun. 
Acara ini merupakan upaya yang dilakukan oleh Pemkab Merangin dalam merespons isu nasional dan tingginya angka perkawinan usia dini di Provinsi Jambi.
Konsultasi publik yang diselenggarakan di Aula Kantor Bappeda Merangin ini dihadiri oleh 100 peserta, termasuk perwakilan DPRD Merangin, Organisasi Perangkat Daerah (OPD), tokoh agama, tokoh adat, akademisi, praktisi hukum, forum kelompok perempuan dan remaja, serta Organisasi Masyarakat Sipil (OMS) dan Lembaga Swadaya Masyarakat (LSM).
Bupati Merangin, M. Syukur, dalam sambutan yang dibacakan oleh Asisten I Setda Merangin, Sukoso menuturkan perhatian serius pemerintah pusat terhadap pencegahan perkawinan anak.
Bupati Syukur menjelaskan bahwa dalam Rencana Pembangunan Jangka Menengah Nasional (RPJMN) 2020-2024, pencegahan perkawinan anak menjadi salah satu strategi perwujudan Indonesia Layak Anak. 
Pemerintah telah memperkuat regulasi melalui Undang-Undang No. 16 Tahun 2019, yang menaikkan batas usia perkawinan menjadi 19 tahun.
"Sebagai turunan dari Strategi Nasional Pencegahan Perkawinan Anak (Stranas PPA) yang diterbitkan pada tahun 2020, pemerintah pusat berharap di tingkat daerah juga menyusun Strategi Daerah atau STRADA PPA," ujar Sukoso mewakili Bupati.
Stranas PPA sendiri bertujuan membangun sinergi rencana pembangunan melalui lima strategi, salah satunya adalah Penguatan regulasi dan kelembagaan serta Optimalisasi kapasitas anak.
Dalam sambutannya, disampaikan pula data Pendataan Keluarga tahun 2020 dari Kementerian Kependudukan dan Keluarga Berencana/BKKBN yang menunjukkan Provinsi Jambi sebagai provinsi dengan Age Specific Fertility Rate (ASFR) perempuan usia 15–19 tahun tertinggi di wilayah Sumatera, mencapai 50,47.
Meskipun angka tersebut mengalami penurunan signifikan pada tahun 2021 menjadi 24,57, dan kembali sedikit meningkat pada tahun-tahun berikutnya (2023 sebesar 26,80), ASFR Jambi pada tahun 2024 masih berada di angka 22,40, menempatkannya sebagai provinsi keempat tertinggi di Sumatera.
Menanggapi tantangan tersebut, Pemerintah Kabupaten Merangin telah mengambil langkah proaktif dengan menerbitkan kebijakan daerah, yaitu Peraturan Bupati Nomor 38 Tahun 2024 tentang Pencegahan Perkawinan pada Usia Anak, serta Surat Edaran Bupati Nomor 467/493/PA/DSPPPA/2025 tentang Pencegahan Perkawinan Usia Anak.
Untuk memperkuat upaya ini, Pemkab Merangin, bersama para pemangku kepentingan, telah membentuk Tim Penyusun Strategi Daerah Pencegahan Perkawinan Anak melalui SK Bupati Merangin Nomor: 489/DSPPPA/2024.
"Saat ini proses penyusunan STADA PPA berada pada tahap Konsultasi Publik. Ini diharapkan dapat menghimpun masukan, data, serta rekomendasi dari berbagai pemangku kepentingan yang akan memperkuat substansi dan menyepakati arah implementasi di Kabupaten Merangin," jelas Sukoso.
