Pemkab Merangin lanjut bupati, akan membangun pabrik Beras Modern. Selama ini, masyarakat hanya berfikir sawah hanya untuk makan, sehingga banyak alih fungsi sawah jadi kebun sawit, padahal bila sawah digarap hasilnya lebih banyak dari sawit.
Dijelaskan bupati, di Kabupaten Merangin ada seluas 5.200 hektar sawah, padahal bupati mencatat ada 6.000 hektar. Untuk satu hektar sawah menghasilkan enam ton gabah.
Jadi dalam setahun dua kali tanam itu lanjut bupati, Merangin bisa menghasilkan 72.000 ton gabah. ‘’Artinya Merangin tidak hanya swasembada panan, tapi sudah surflus beras dan ini bisa menjadi potensi yang luar biasa,’’terang Bupati.
Bupati berharap tidak ada lagi warga yang alih fungsi sawah jadi kebun sawit. Pemerintah akan membantu semaksimal mungkin bagi warga yang memanfaatkan sawahnya dengan baik untuk menanam padi sawah.
‘’Nanti kualitas bibit dan pupuknya kita tingkatkan lagi, begitu juga dengan penyuluhan pertanian lebih sering dilakukan, sehingga pada musim panen nanti  gabah yang dihasilkan juga akan lebih meningkat,’’terang Bupati.
Intinya tegas bupati, di Kabupaten Merangin semua unsur Forkopimda dan organisasi yang terlibat mendukung sepenuhnya program Asta Cita Presiden Prabowo, untuk meningkatkan ketahanan pangan.
Dandim 0420/Sarko Letkol Inf Yakhya Wisnu Arianto berterimakasih kepada bupati dan semua pihak yang telah bahu-membahu dalam mensukseskan program ketahanan pangan yang telah digagas Presiden Prabowo.
‘’Mari kita wujudkan swasembada pangan, bahkan suflus kata Pak Bupati tadi. Kita yakin Indonesia bisa hidup dengan berasnya sendiri. Semoga program ini dapat berjalan baik dan berkesinambungan sebagaimana yang diharapkan,’’ujar Dandim 0420/Sarko.
Tanpak hadir pada tanam padi serentak itu, Plt Kadis Kominfo Akhmad Khoirudin (Akhoi), Plt Kadis Nakbun Daryanto, Kepala Bulog Merangin Hamdani, Kadis Perindag Andei, Kadis PMD Dedi Candra, Plt Kadis Tanaman Pangan dan Holtikultura Mujiburrahman  dan pejabat lainnya.
