Acara yang dimulai pukul 07.30 Wib tersebut, dihadiri Bupati Merangin H M Syukur diwakili Kadis Parpora Suherman. Dalam sambutannya Suherman mengatakan, Hari Olahraga Nasionak ke-42 itu diperingati seluruh kabupaten/kota di Indonesia.
‘’Mari tingkatkan derajat kesehatan masyarakat, dengan memperbanyak olahraga. Saya bersama Pak Bupati dan Pak Wabup melakukan jogging delapan kilometer dalam Kota Bangko,’’ujar Suherman.

Dikatakan Hj Lavita Syukur, orang yang rajin berolahraga kondisi tubuhnya akan selalu sehat dan bugar. Untuk itu pentingnya berolahraga setiap hari, agar tubuh dalam kondisi selalu sehat dan bugar.
‘’Mari memasyarakatkan olahraga dan mengolahragakan masyarakat. Saat ini sudah banyak instruktur senam di Kota Bangko, jadi tidak ada alasan untuk tidak berolahraga, terutama para ibu-ibu dan remaja putri,’’ujar Ketua TP PKK Merangin.
Wakil Ketua TP PKK Merangin Hj Emi Minarsih Khafidh pada kesempatan itu, minta kepada para ibu-ibu yang hadir, untuk selalu dalam posisi siap ketika lagu Indonesia Raya sudah berkumandang.
‘’Terus terang saya agak kecewa tadi, karena saat lagu Indonesia Raya berkumandang, masih banyak ibu-ibu yang duduk-duduk dan selfie ria. Harusnya semua dalam posisi siap semua,’’ujar Hj Emi Minarsih Khafidh.
Meneriknya dipenghujung acara, panitia membagi-bagikan door prize kepada para peserta senam, yang jumlahnya mencapai ratusan orang. Para peserta senam itu berasal dari berbagai penjuru kecamatan dalam Kabupaten.
