Ajakan berhijrah tersebut,  dikatakan bupati pada sambutan acara peringatan tahun baru Islam 1447 H, yang dihadiri unsur Forkopimda, para Kepala OPD dan ribuan pegawai, di Aula Kantor Bupati Merangin, Kamis (26/6).
‘’Artinya hijrah tersebut dari sesuatu yang lama ke yang baru. Tapi yang baru dimaksud untuk kebaikan, bukan baru diartikan yang lainnya,’’ujar Bupati sembari melempar senyum khasnya.
Pada kesempatan itu bupati juga mengajak para pegawai untuk meningkatkan keimanan. Kekuatan iman itu harus terus ditumbuhkan dari diri sendiri. Perubahan-perubahan itulah tegas bupati, yang harus ditanamkan, khususnya di Permerintahan.
‘’Yang dulu lama tertidur, yang baru harus bangkit. Yang dulu santai, sekarang harus lebih giat. Yang dulu maaf di Setda Merangin tidak ada Mushola, sekarang sudah bisa sholat berjemaah,’’terang Bupati.
Perubahan-perubahan seperti itulah lanjut bupati, yang diharapkan dalam momentum peringatan tahun baru Islam 1447 H. Bupati sangat mengapresiasi kegiatan-kegiatan agama, tidak hanya agama Islam tapi juga agama lainnya.
‘’Kita harus bisa terus berbuat baik, untuk memotivasi kita menjadi lebih baik lagi. Hijrah dari jalan yang tidak baik ke jalan yang lebih baik. Pagawai Merangin paling banyak di Sumatera, tapi apakah pelayanan publik kita juga terbaik di Sumatera?’’tanya Bupati.
Untuk itu bupati mengajak semua introspeksi diri, baik bupati-nya, camat-nya, OPD-nya, guna menuju pelayanan publik yang terbaik untuk masyarakat Kabupaten Merangin yang sama-sama dicintai.
Sementara itu Ustadz Tengku Iskandar yang tampil sebagai penceramah menjelaskan, tahun Hijriah mulai dihitung sejak hijrahnya Nabi Muhammad SAW dari Mekah menuju Madinah.
‘’Hijrah Nabi Muhammad SAW itu, perjalanan keimanan, perjalanan ilmu, perjalanan ibadah, perjalanan meningkatkan ukhuwah Islamiah, perjalanan peningkatkan persatuan dan kesatuan,’’terang Ustadz Tengku Iskandar.
Peringatan tahun baru Islam 1447 H di Merangin diawali dengan Pawai Long March ribuan pegawai, Polisi, TNI dan masyarakat dari Gedung DPRD Merangin menuju kantor bupati Merangin. Pawai itu dilepas Asisten I Setda Merangin M Sayoeti.
