MERANGIN – Polres Merangin menindak lanjuti laporan masyarakat terkait aktivitas Pertambangan Emas Tanpa Izin (PETI) yang sudah meresahkan masyarakat.
Kali ini, Polres Merangin melalui Unit Tipidter Sat Reskrim Polres Merangin dan Polsek Bangko menindak tegas aktivitas penambangan emas tanpa izin (PETI) yang berada di Desa Mentawak, Kecamatan Nalo Tantan, Merangin, Jambi dan wilayah Desa Sei Kapas Kec. Bangko Kab. Merangin.
“Operasi ini dilakukan sebagai tindak lanjut atas pengaduan masyarakat yang merasa terganggu dengan keberadaan PETI di wilayah tersebut,” ujar Kapolres Merangin AKBP Roni Syahendra melalui Kasubsi Penmas Aiptu Ruly, Kamis (22/5/25).
Selain menimbulkan keresahan sosial di tengah masyarakat kegiatan PETI juga berpotensi merusak lingkungan seperti banjir maupun longsor. Karena itu, pihaknya berkomitmen untuk memberantas aktivitas PETI tersebut.
Dikatakan Ruly, meskipun tidak sedang beroperasi saat ditemukan, seluruh unit maupun alat yang digunakan untuk aktivitas PETI tersebut langsung dimusnahkan di lokasi dengan cara dirusak dan dibakar agar tidak dapat dipergunakan kembali.
“Hasil pengecekan dilokasi Desa Mentawak terdapat 3 unit mesin Dompeng, pipa dan selang air. Kemudian tim melakukan perusakan terhadap alat-alat yang ada dilokasi, sedangkan yang berada di Desa Sei Kapas ditemukan alat dompeng jenis lanting untuk kegiatan Ilegal Minning ( PETI ) yang selanjutnya alat dompeng tersebut dirusak dan dibakar agar tidak dapat digunakan kembali,” sebut Ruly.
Selain itu, tim juga melakukan penyisiran di sekitar lokasi dan memberikan imbauan kepada masyarakat agar tidak lagi melakukan aktivitas penambangan ilegal.
“Kami tegaskan akan terus melakukan penindakan terhadap aktivitas PETI. Ia juga mengimbau agar masyarakat terus berperan aktif dalam melaporkan setiap aktivitas ilegal yang terjadi di wilayah mereka, sehingga diharapkan tercipta lingkungan yang aman dan kondusif,” ujarnya.
