Bangko-Pertandingan final Gubernur Cup 2026, antara Merangin FC melawan FC Kota Jambi yang digelar di Stadion Swarna Bumi Pijoan Kabupaten Muarojambi, berlangsung sengit dan penuh tensi, Minggu (25/01). Pertandingan tersebut disaksikan, Gubernur Jambi H Al Haris, Bupati Merangin H M Syukur bersama Wabup H A Khafid serta Sekda Zulhifni dan Walikota Jambi H Maulana serta ribuan penonton dari berbagai penjuru Jambi. Sejak awal pertandingan, kedua kesebelasan langsung menampilkan permainan terbuka, dengan saling melancarkan serangan dan memperagakan pola permainan yang menakjubkan. Namun pada menit ke-10 Husni Mubarok (16) pemain FC Kota Jambi, melepaskan tendangan pelan dari luar kotak penalty dan bola menggelinding mulus lolos di sela kaki penjaga gawang Merangin FC. Menariknya, Husni sendiri terlihat tidak menyangka bahwa tendangannya tersebut berbuah gol perdana pada pertandingan hebat tersebut, sehingga skor menjadi 1-0 untuk FC Kota Jambi. Tertinggal satu gol membuat Merangin FC tidak tinggal diam dan langsung meningkatkan intensitas serangan. Tekanan demi tekanan dilancarkan ke pertahanan FC Kota Jambi. Hasilnya pada menit ke-19, Bima Sakti (08) berhasil memanfaatkan peluang dan mencetak gol cantik penyeimbangkan permainan sehingga mampu mengubah skor menjadi 1–1. Setelah gol manis tersebut, pertandingan semakin memanas. Kedua tim kembali saling jual beli serangan dan menunjukkan determinasi tinggi untuk unggul, sebagai pemenang pada Gubernur Cup 2026. Tapi sayang, hingga wasit meniup peluit panjang tanda berakhirnya babak pertama, tidak ada tambahan gol yang tercipta dari kedua kesebelasan, sehingga skor 1–1 pun bertahan hingga turun minum. Memasuki babak kedua kembali terjadi saling serang, masing-masing kesebelasan dengan berbagai pola main yang diterapkan, berusaha membobol gawang lawan. Namun tiga menit sebelum babak kedua berakhir, justru perseteruan yang terjadi. Kisruh itu, membuat Gubernur Jambi bersama Bupati Merangin dan Wabup serta Walikota Jambi, turun ke lapangan untuk mereda kistruh yang terjadi. ‘’Kita bangun stadion ini untuk majukan sepak bola Jambi, jangan ada yang ribut,’’ujar Gubernur. Bupati Merangin juga menegaskan, seluruh penonton dan pemain Merangin tetap menjaga sportivitas dalam bertanding dan anti keributan. ‘’Merangin aman, hidup Merangin,’’ujar Bupati. Setelah menyita waktu cukup lama dan dipastikan aman, pertandingan dilanjutkan adu penalty. Pada adu penalty tersebut, penjaga gawang FC Kota Jambi berhasil menghalau satu tendangan pemain Merangin FC, sehingga sampai berakhir adu penalty skor berubah menjadi 5-4, kemenangan tipis diraih FC Kota Jambi.
