"Sastra, termasuk monolog, bukan sekadar hiburan. Ia mengajarkan nilai, rasa, dan daya pikir yang tajam. Lewat kegiatan ini, kami ingin menumbuhkan apresiasi siswa terhadap karya sastra sekaligus mengasah keterampilan berekspresi,” ujar Muis.

Dalam sambutannya, kang Asro  menyampaikan bahwa monolog adalah salah satu bentuk seni yang unik, dan ini adalah seni peran yang membutuhkan penghayatan mendalam, sehingga dapat menjadi media efektif untuk menyampaikan pesan-pesan kemanusiaan.
"Ini cukup penting bagi generasi muda khususnya Merangin. Salahsatunya karena selama ini anak-anak dari Merangin belum ada yang muncul dari seni monolog baik itu di tingkat Provinsi maupun Nasional. Harapannya peserta nanti bisa mengikuti kegiatan ini dengan serius namun tidak kaku, dan kalian semua dapat ilmunya, " ujar Ketua DKM. 
Bengkel menghadirkan dua narasumber praktisi monolog, Ide Bagus Putra dan Wiko Antoni, yang membagikan pengalaman serta teknik mendalami peran tunggal di atas panggung. Peserta mendapatkan pembekalan mulai dari teknik vokal, penghayatan karakter, hingga pemanfaatan gesture dan ekspresi.
Salah satu peserta, Dian Ayuning Tyas siswi SMA Negeri 6 Merangin mengaku sangat senang dapat mengikuti kegiatan ini. Diakuinya ini sebuah hal baru dan menarik untuk diikuti.
"Saya jadi tahu bahwa monolog itu tidak hanya berdiri di panggung dan berbicara, tapi juga menyampaikan perasaan dan pesan dengan sepenuh hati. Ini pengalaman berharga buat saya,” ujarnya penuh antusias.
Ditambahkan oleh peserta lainnya dari SMA Negeri 1 Merangin, Niza Anti Alfiya, mengatakan kegiatan ini menjadi sebuah pengalaman baru dan menarik. "Menarik, selain pemilihan lokasi yang tidak kaku dan suasana jadi lebih rileks namun tetap fokus. Dan yang tidak kalah penting, narasumbernya diisi oleh pelaku-pelaku seni yang sudah malang melintang di dunia sastra khususnya monolog, " ujar Niza.
Sementara itu, pemerhati seni Merangin, Bayu Kumara, berharap kegiatan semacam ini dapat lebih sering diadakan di Kabupaten Merangin.
"Balai Bahasa Provinsi Jambi semoga bisa membawa lebih banyak program sejenis ke Bumi Tali Undang Tambang Teliti, sehingga kegiatan berkesenian di Merangin makin semarak dan menggairahkan," ungkapnya.
Dengan terselenggaranya bengkel ini, diharapkan para peserta tidak hanya memahami monolog sebagai karya sastra, tetapi juga mampu memerankannya dengan penuh makna, sehingga dapat menjadi bagian dari penggerak seni pertunjukan di Merangin dan Provinsi Jambi.
