SAROLANGUN - Bupati Sarolangun, H. Hurmin membuka acara Festival Adat Tradisi Melayu Jambi, di rumah adat Melayu Jambi Sarolangun, Kamis (26/6).
Dalam Sambutannya, Bupati H Hurmin mengingatkan pentingnya menjaga warisan budaya Melayu Jambi.
Kata dia, Suku Melayu memiliki adat istiadat yang termasuk dalam kearifan lokal masyarakat melayu seperti berpantun, sekapur sirih dan tradisi perkawinan serta tradisi lainnya.
“Tradisi adalah kebiasaan atau adat istiadat yang diwariskan secara turun temurun dari satu generasi ke generasi berikutnya. Seperti tradisi kita yang sangat beragam mencakup upacara adat, ritual keagamaan, kesenian dan berbagai tradisi budaya lainnya," kata Hurmin.
Melestarikan tradisi, tambah H Hurmin bisa dilakukan dengan berbagai cara seperti mempelajari dan mempraktekkan budaya daerah, mengikuti kegiatan budaya, memperkenalkan budaya ke generasi muda dan memanfaatkan teknologi untuk melestarikan budaya.
“Yang tidak kalah penting itu, memang mempraktekkan budaya ke generasi muda. Sebab kalau ini tidak kita teruskan kita bakal susah (kedepannya) karena adat sangat penting dalam setiap kegiatan sehari-hari. Ini kalau sudah mulai tergerus itu yang harus kita ingatkan," tutup Hurmin.
